Sydney. Each dot is the geotag coordinates extracted from the EXIF data on a photo. Blue dots are photos taken by people whose photos have EXIF data which predominantly indicates they live in Sydney. Red dots are photos taken by people whose photos have EXIF data which predominantly indicates they’re visiting. Yellow dots are where it’s not possible to conclusively determine whether the photographer is local or a tourist. Red patches on the map are places where tourists take lots of photos. Blue patches are where locals take lots of photos. Virtually all of the red patches are constrained to a small area; The rest of the city doesn’t see much tourism to speak of. https://www.flickr.com/photos/walkingsf/4672149966/in/album-72157624209158632/lightbox/ (Other world cities are in the linked photo album) (Ping @stilgherrian@eigenmagic.net ‘cos I’m guessing this might tweak something in his brain)
