@speaktrap@mastodon.com.pl Not in the classical sense. Classical microkernels did a bunch of really stupid things too, imposing enormous RPC costs all over the place and souring eveyone to the whole concept.

@dalias@hachyderm.io @speaktrap@mastodon.com.pl You realize that there are now modern microkernels that have displaced Linux in some very large markets: Asian smartphones, home automation, etc. This is being done at scale already, its just that the western geek scene has come down with a case of incuriousity and are now struggling to imagine a life away from the Linux monolith altar.
