@ferret Code is absolutely art. Art is also used to solve problems. Solutions can be artistic. The way you solve problems is part of your own self-expression. And even if it wasn't art, it is still labour. Non-art is still wrong to steal. Saying that it's wrong to steal and siphon from pictures but not from code is actually kind of worse than saying neither is wrong; the former implies you view programming as labour of "lower value", and as such, you are fine with it being stolen and violated in this way. This is quite a gross thing to do as a self proclaimed socialist, again, before the aesthetics, actually check that you care about the important shit. Saying "Everything you're saying is true, but it is technically possible to code with LLMs in a way that is 30% morally bankrupt instead of 99%, myself and another twelve people on Earth do it" is not the own you think it is. The vast majority of programmers simply don't give a shit, they use Claude or Codex or whatever's built in to their VSCode slop fork of choice. I can guarantee this includes kernel maintainers. It's like if I was complaining about a group of arsonists burning homes down and you said "Well I mean they could burn down Elon Musk's house and then they'd be okay" like that matters at all to the discussion. It is such an unproductive thing to add to the conversation I'm only not considering it trolling because you replied in good faith the first time.
