The local ISP just called me and suggested I switch to their GPON service. All the options they ordered had worse price/bandwidth than my current cable contract with them. After I stated that I'll remain on cable, they suggested that this service will be turned off eventually. Of course, no concrete date was given. But I suggested they should reach out with some better offers once this actually happens.
