@jtk@infosec.exchange - Following your argument means that also the prefixes 1.1.1.0/24, 8.8.8.0/24, 9.9.9.0/24 and the likes are of no special value. The only benefit I can see is their memorability. Whether I would have to type 8.8.8.8 or any other IPv4 address into my DNS configs, wouldn't really matter. It would be a one-off thing. Also, typing your preferred resolver's IP address repeatedly will eventually make it memorable for you anyway.

    @resingm@infosec.exchange Not the same argument at all. IP address resources are just numbers, but because they are associated with real hosts, domain names, and all the associated traffic they receive or emit, and in the case of v4 not so readily available, their value profile is very different.
