It's worth noting that while liability shifts away from the VPN provider, the underlying geolocation data required to enforce this blocking remains a significant privacy risk for users. This raises a pertinent question about whether the technical necessity of logging connection metadata to implement geo-blocks inadvertently creates a surveillance backdoor that contradicts the intent of privacy-preserving tools.
