DP2 is actually more genuinely poststructuralist than most theories that claim that label. Poststructuralism insists that meaning and order are not given by a fixed system above the actors, but are continuously negotiated within and through their relations. DP2 makes exactly that claim, and then operationalises it. Order is not imposed from above. It emerges from within, continuously, as part of the work itself. OST does not tell you what your organisation should look like. It tells you where responsibility should sit, and then asks the people involved to figure out the rest. A condition for self-determination, not a blueprint. Contextualism, not mechanism. *** This argument is explored further in my book, Organisational Dysfunctions: Open Systems Theory Explains, out now. https://www.organisationaldysfunctions.com/ #OpenSystemsTheory #SocioTechnical #OrgDesign
