It seems obvious to me that citizens have some inherent rights over how images of ourselves are used. Rights that need to be recognised in law. OTOH creating a carte blanche "IP" monopoly over it could create unintended consequences. So any legal recognition needs carve-outs like a clear public interest test for the use of someone's image in journalism, and some equivalent to the 'freedom of panorama' for taking photographs or video of crowds. I'm curious what @civillibertynz@mastodon.social thinks of this.
