How can a technology that is so unreliable and so resource intensive be taken so seriously? The flaws were apparent from the start, but no one dared say “wait, if the technology is this unreliable and consumes endless compute, how is this supposed to pencil out?” In postwar France everyone had been part of the resistance, in the post-bubble period everyone will have been a skeptic.

  • @prietschka@mastodon.social I work for IBM. At a recent "town hall" we were told by the CEO and others that IBM's value now rests in its suite of so called "AI" tools it can sell to clients instead of in the skill and experience of its tens of thousands of developers. I haven't been very motivated at work since I heard that.
