Work to reinstate the car park at #Colchester railway station is due to begin later this month after design work was completed. Upgrades already underway include improvements to the power supply, drainage and preparations for a new lift. The scheme will provide more accessible parking bays, new pedestrian routes, improved lighting and CCTV, plus additional cycle and motorcycle parking. Delivered by Greater #Anglia as part of GBR Anglia, the project will reopen parking spaces in phases as work progresses. The car park closed in July 2024 after a structural survey found deterioration in the decked section, which was later demolished. Other areas of the station car park remain open, with temporary access roads and a new pedestrian walkway in place.
