Sizewell C has appointed Specialist Passenger Solutions (SPS), part of First Bus, to operate workforce transport for the new nuclear power station in Suffolk under a five-year contract starting this month. SPS will run park-and-ride and pick-up services using around 150 #hydrogen and electric buses supplied by Sizewell C, reducing thousands of daily car journeys. The company expects to create at least 400 jobs, including drivers, engineers and support staff, with around 75% of recruits expected to be trainees. SPS will recruit within an hour of the site and builds on its experience at Hinkley Point C in Somerset, where it transports more than 12,000 workers a day. Sizewell C says the contract will support low-carbon travel, local employment and regional supply chains during construction.
