A network cable from a wall socket, plugged in the adjacent socket, just caused us a 2h office outage, because of network loop :) I am a developer but luckily for me, we had the same issue in an office 15y ago when our IT lead was lurking the floor with a machete in his hand to find out that someone was too bred during a meeting. So teach your colleagues to resist the urge to shove network cables around... some things are ok to stay loose :)
