@The_Whore_of_Blahbylon@mastodon.social the ICIJ, who was behind the Panama Papers, is funded primarily by the National Endowment for Democracy, which is funded by US Congress (and is also, it should be stated, a CIA carveout). The goal of the Panama Papers was to expose Russian circumvention of economic sanctions. And it was actually extremely successful in that regard. The rest was a bunch of noise intended to conceal that latter fact and present the appearance of neutral investigation.
