One day we have to have a conversation about the US liberals and leftists who learn about the social and historical problems in other countries but not out of solidarity with the people struggling against them, but in order to restore a sense of wounded superiority Like there's a certain sector of white US liberals who like to hear about racism in France (obviously a very real and serious problem!) not because they want to be in solidarity with and learn from French antiracist activists, who they instead pretend don't even exist, but because they're secretly excited about the idea of a country that is more racist than the US
