@rogerc2738@social.vivaldi.net The electricity that generates the heat comes from what? The electric grid. What does the electric grid do to make that electricity? They burn fossil fuels above ground whose emissions accelerate climate change. Heat dissipation isn’t the problem with data centers. The problem is burning non-renewable, climate destroying fossil fuels to make the electricity. And, like bitcoin, the majority of computation we spend electricity to carry out is waste. (Intermediate byproducts, discarded wrong answers, trivial outputs we could totally live without). Good heat management doesn’t fix the thing that is bad about AI. We straight up need to burn less fossil fuel. Everything else is window dressing.
