@ben@mastodon.lubar.me @foone@digipres.club Probably for interpreting digital radio signals. Digital signals could be keyed for safety purposes, so no one can activate any collar they want without the remote that came with it or so the collar doesn't think it's receiving a signal when it isn't.

There's probably a 50% chance it generates an "actually kill this person for real in real life with the shock collar" mode of some sort. I'm sure the other 50% of the time the firmware is going to make the collar fry itself, harming only your wallet.
