I finally published a post about my feelings about AI today: https://www.eamoncaddigan.net/posts/ai-in-2026/ I've been blocked for months, trying to figure out a tone and framing that I feel good about sharing publicly. To be honest I'm kinda proud of this one, but even if nobody cares it feels so good to just get these thoughts out of my head.

@eamon@social.coop good piece! it is not needed for most of their current use cases and yes learning how to use a computer well or basic statistics (I mean basic!) are still a better skills than prompting. None of them require training big models/data centers. The current media coverage in the US is insane!

@eamon@social.coop This reminds me of conversations I've had recently with therapists and physicians. They insist that it is "impossible" to practice without GenAI to speed up charting. Ironically, several people I've talked to have blamed EHRs for increasing the record-keeping burden when they were supposed to make things easier. I don't know what to say to people who somehow can't conceive of things they personally experienced just a couple years ago.
