My absolute favorite is to use 'shift' to cycle backwards through things. So for example, tapping 'tab' while on a website will cycle through UI elements. But holding 'shift' and tapping 'tab' will cycle backwards through the same elements. It applies to a ton of other shortcuts too. Everyone knows alt+tab to cycle through the windows of running programs. Holding alt+shift and tapping 'tab' cycles backwards through the windows. Also, holding 'ctrl' and tapping 'tab' cycles through the tabs in a web browser. Holding ctrl+shift and tapping 'tab' cycles backwards through open tabs.
