@sundogplanets@mastodon.social I grew up in New York City and have spent most of my life in or near large cities, so I'm a bit unclear on this dark sky concept… When in grad school, though, for several years I lived in a very rural area south of a small town (Chapel Hill, NC), and the sky there was amazing. (Aside: six months ago, my partner and I went to Death Valley and I did some astrophotography—and had a photo bombed by at least six (I assume) Starlnk satellites…)
