@rasmus91@fosstodon.org @Alephcat@mastodon.me.uk yes, it’s counter intuitive to kill the predators. I’ve actually seen a Cooper’s hawk eating a rat in the neighborhood once. Birds of prey are often the victims of rat poison here in Massachusetts, and some cities/towns have already banned the poison because of the public outcry for those beloved owls, eagles and hawks who fell victims. But animals don’t know the city/town limits. BirthControl rat bait is publicly accessible (online) in our state. There’s no need for poison, which actually boost the birth rate temporarily—an ineffective way to keep the population in check, imho.
