Dual hose hack complete! ish.
I spent a good while getting the box the perfect shape to fit snugly over the air intake - not realising the outlet adapter gets in the way. D'oh!

Despite not being particurlaly air tight, it's definitely improved things. The room has cooled quite a bit faster (green line).
