I am a tech bro. I understand cooming over technical advancements. I coom over jet engines, modern radars, computers, photography etc. So, when I say, that movie snobs cooming over the term "Imax" are fucking retarded, I mean it. I get, that it's a bigger resolution, but there is literally no reason in this age to film movies in that format. The cameras cannot even handle more then 3 minutes at a time, they are loud, and in the end, you get a format, that is neither going to fit the 16/9 form, or the 4/3 screens either. It is custom made to be useless and the end product will end up with cut corners, because the smug asshole thought the 4 letters are more importand then the experience of the customer. And that's before you look into how much this retarded joke costs.
