@maxwells_daemon@infosec.exchange For what it's worth, I'd say start with HTML & CSS (I promise CSS isn't bad once you get used to it). You can do some fun stuff with just that, then add some plain JavaScript later when you need it. Less of a learning curve than going straight into a modern framework, and unbeatable speed from a low-power server.
