I have a problem. I figured out that my severe lack of focus in recent days is because my brain wanted me to do creative writing on a project that I abandoned, probably for good reasons (the content aside: not enough time, extreme disruption to my schedule when I get fixated on it, or just extreme distraction because I can’t work on it). It takes over and it is a problem because it is not a logical use of my non-work time and there are cascading consequences for neglecting various tasks. It is very distressing to me. I manage my life in at least a semi-functional way and I can’t let it fall apart but the distraction is extreme.
For example, I listen to audiobooks in a way that may be obsessive but functional: it keeps me doing chore tasks and looking forward to things. I’ve been stalled at book 99 of the year all week. I can’t listen while walking because my brain won’t focus. And walking is my favorite audiobook time!
I am miserable. I don’t know that I am asking for advice but something?

Here’s another aspect: even putting away dinner is difficult because usually I do kitchen stuff while listening to audiobooks but I can’t listen to my audiobook right now so I can’t get with the tasks it helps me do.
