@ZoidbergForPresident@kolektiva.social @e_mydata@mastodon.social To my knowledge, the phone needs an active internet connection to install apks and will fail otherwise. With internet it then checks the developer details they had to provide (alongside a fee to Google) and allows you to install the app if they feel grateful. ✨

@mcbaumwolle@mastodon.social @e_mydata@mastodon.social But isn't the whole thing open source, they can't force every apk to do that and defacto prevent any alternative way to get apps ? I'll most probably get a linux phone next then :p
