There was a time when I was reading page after page from https://www.folklore.org/0-index.html (not that any of it has any relevance to whatever crap Apple is doing today), many of Raymond Chen's blog posts have a similar vibe, etc. Typically the constraints that people were facing were only in the moment and any first-order technical wisdom one might hope to extract from such posts has already been obsolete for a long time. What I care about is the enthusiasm. I could tell you about the times I felt I was doing impactful work too but that might be abusing your attention for objectively minor advances.
