@bweller@mstdn.social Why would you need a transmitter to receive alert broadcasts? LoRa may be good as a backup, but AM radio receivers are cheap, dead simple and ubiquitous.

@grumpydad@infosec.exchange who controls the AM transmitters? fascists and their ilk theyre big heavy expensive and licensed and owned by the fash the govt isnt wanting to do weather anymore. consider where we find ourselves in a broader context i am super not concerned about being notified by THEM. tech does not exist in a social vacuum. AM is okay in a pure abstraction but not useful to me IRL.
