@PapyrusBrigade@cosocial.ca It's a sad situation. People love their library ebooks, quite rightly, but how that works behind the scenes is all about rent-taking, restrictive licenses, and endless payments. The concentration of ownership, sometimes in private hands, in libraries and publishing is little known but astonishing. The profit margins are remarkable.

@wdenton@cosocial.ca @PapyrusBrigade@cosocial.ca Indeed, ebook lending is markedly better for the user but the idea that an ebook expires after a certain number of loans is abhorrent rent-seeking.
