@witix@mk.absturztau.be If you mean switching between them on labels then no, if the word is written in kana, usually it's either one or the other, writing オフィス as おふぃす is understandable, but whoever is reading will have to scratch their head for a second before they understand what you were trying to say. If you are speaking about the input, it has nothing to do with your locale, it depends on the IME you are using. With some you type everything in hiragana and switch it afterwards, some will allow you to type directly in katakana/half-width. Fcitx, the most popular IME for Linux as far as I'm aware, will allow you to do both, depending on the settings.
