@benroyce@mastodon.social It took forever to ban cigarette advertising in the US, and even longer in Europe. My impression was that a lot more people smoked there and it remained acceptable in public spaces. My work took me to Europe and Scandinavia frequently and I was happy to see the decline in smoking. In the case of fossil fuels, the US needs to stigmatize the product much more, although I a not at all hopeful it will work well enough.

@meltedcheese@c.im i was in rome a few years ago and i was surprised how many people were vaping. i mean it was all ages and varieties of people. vaping here in the us just seems to be of one age group
