Demise begins with ambition. Most people understand how close arming for peace is to being sucked into war. Yet we usually don't see how politically arguing for peace, improving the world through enterprise, intellectually searching for a solution is one step, the last step before calamity. It sounds odd, cynical, but it is an established pattern of history. Structurally, the problem might be that fighting the evil of a system within that system will always draw from its flaws and gift it with power and energy. Maybe the goal is the goal. Wonderful ennui. To be too lazy to hurt others just for some stupid goal. To be invested with nothing but joy and peace. The love of friends and family. Everything else is but an unwelcome distraction from life. Maybe necessary, but always second. No eustress, no sacrifice, no "bigger picture". Maybe this is the only attitude that deserves enforcement. Maybe it is just as dangerous. Maybe it is inevitable. If you have no choice, choose hope, have faith.
