Visited Saparomäki for the second time, the animal "safe house" near Porvoo, Finland. It hosts three pigs and various amounts of chickens and lambs. All either rescued from being slaughtered or taken in due to owners not being abe to take care of them anymore. "Selling for dog food or a pet", was one advert they replied to.
I understand dogs needing to eat meat, but how can any human eat for example a pig like this particular one called Lempi?
The answer is of course "they can't", at least in our industrialized meat production, where pigs get killed way before they grow to be full size pigs like this happy individual. The industry kills pigs when they're literally youngsters (males) or stop being productive (females). These pigs here are full size, happy individuals of around 400kg in weight. No animal in the meat industry is given the possibility to live their lives to even a part of their natural possibilities.
