Got dumped with some family 'heirlooms' yesterday. I've put the painting by my mother up (we have a few already) and will store some of the others, but do I really need to keep her university degree or piano ATCL certificates? Or the books that mention some relative in passing? (Yes, I am related to the Jack Humm famed for his eponymous crab apple.)

@thomasbeagle@mastodon.nz Such a difficult issue. I ended up scanning my parents memorabilia, including various certificates, etc.. I recall after my father dies in 2007 that I got one of his certificates, professionally scanned as it was so large. It may have been confirmation of his passing his Accountancy exams. Your post prompted to find the scanned copy and you what, I am not sure I can find it.... A good lesson that all things pass and fade into oblivion.

@thomasbeagle@mastodon.nz A list of achievements and digital copies, maybe for a CD should suffice for your mother's certificates. I'm not a good adviser, we still have unsorted items including shipboard menues from my grandmother's travels. She died in 1996.
