re: ethics with AI. There's only so much we can do when there's no accountability for ethics in tech. However, the best that we can do is continue to support free and open source models so there is an alternative out there that belongs to the public, not a corporation.

@bashbunni@mastodon.social putting the ethics aside for just a moment, it is also so freaking dangerous. AI has a tendency to sound really smart when it is completely full of crap. For example. It is summer time, and bugs have been wandering into my house, because that's just what they do. There were a few that wandered in that, out of paranoia, I asked AI about, and it had me believing I had a cockroach infestation. I sent the same pictures to a professional who assured me there is absolutely no problem, and he even visited the house. But the fact Gemini and others even put the thought into my brain has been sending my mental health down the toilet for two weeks. We have made the house damn near spotless, and I am still obsessing.
