@TerminalTilt@social.terminaltilt.com I love the fact you acknowledge that if someone stayed on Mint, it's totally valid. There's so much snobbery online regarding distros. Something I didn't like. I'm happy to hear you say that. I totally think it's okay to stay on Mint as well, and one will learn a lot with time.
In regards to governmentality issue. I'm so new to this world, but I'd want something truly Foss and truly decentralised, free as in freedom, and driven by community.

When I mentioned governance, I was referring to how rules are made for the project's community and how the project functions. For instance, I absolutely love how Debian is managed. You should read Debian's Social Contract: https://www.debian.org/social_contract It outlines how they commit to staying 100% free software, give back to the community, and stay transparent.
