@springdiesel@spore.social I believe the reason we don't do those things to them is not that the nazis have some humanity or right to be free of it. They surrendered all rights by being nazis.
The reason we don't do it is that it conditions us to accept the feeling of doing those things to something that looks like a human.
This is why I'm also against the practice of using "slurs" about chatbots. It's not that they're something human-like that makes it wrong. It's that it gives our brains the "kick" of using slurs, and reinforces whatever part of us might want to do that to humans.

@dalias@hachyderm.io That's an interesting take, and I like thinking about it. Depending how widely you define "we", we already do these things to those who not only appear human but actually are human. Folks who do torture and genocide etc. often are able to do it because they don't perceive the recipients as human. But instead animals, specifically vermin, who need to be eradicated for the well-being of the folks' own people.
