It happened before, not with Ai, mind you, but with some guys arrested fof a crime they did not commit.
They had to plead guilty in order to get a pardon deal....

@Noortjevee@mstdn.social @davidnjoku@mastodon.world Not just "has happened before." This is most convictions in the United States.🤷🏿♂️ Arrest an innocent Black person too poor to make bail. Charge them with anything. They know that their life will be ruined if they are in jail for a year trying to prove their innocence. They know that they will be brutalized and assaulted in jail for a year, and lose custody of their children, have their credit destroyed, lose their house or apartment, and worse. Offer them the opportunity to plead guilty and go home now. Most will just take it. This is 95% of convictions in the USA. Not a typo. Ninety-five percent of criminal convictions are plea deals.
