You know what? I love that tourists come here. I want more tourists to come here. But sometimes I think there should be a question at passport control at all Irish airports.
“Do you understand why you shouldn’t order an Irish Car Bomb here?”
And if they don’t have a clue then put them right back on the plane.

Further advice for Americans in NI: 1. Please talk a little more quietly. 2. Unless you have a solid understanding of the Troubles and the sectarian tension here (and honestly, probably even if you do) then just nod and smile when people are talking about it. You may, if the atmosphere is right, ask polite questions, but bear in mind the conflict is in the living memory of people here, many locals carry trauma of some kind, and asking them things like “do you know anyone who died?” is AWFUL why would you DO THAT what is WRONG with you this isn’t a fucking THEME PARK these aren’t PAID ACTORS jesus christ just go home 3. Shops accept British pounds stirling, not Euros.
