@glyph@mastodon.social @matt@toot.cafe not the case. GLM is now pretty much state of the art, open source and you can run locally.
And you can fine tune these models at home today with consumer grade GPUs.

@Migueldeicaza@mastodon.social @matt@toot.cafe This industry generates an unbelievable amount of chaff. Having had the experience multiple times now of “oh you’re just not up to date you really need to be using the latest models”, then finding that those models have the exact same problems, I find this claim anti-convincing.
