@bth@infosec.exchange @pozorvlak@mathstodon.xyz Yeah, Claude says my theory is no good at all, for several reasons, one of them being that whales don 't have external ear holes anyway, and another being that they don't expel earwax, it just accumulates for their entire lifetime.
I haven't checked yet if any of this is true.

@mjd@mathstodon.xyz @pozorvlak@mathstodon.xyz they don’t expel earwax, this is one of the fascinating details that I do remember clearly from the book. It accumulates over their lifetime. Similar to tree rings, ear wax ends up as a record of their life and it’s possible to infer how much stress they were under by looking at the amount of cortisol trapped in it during that period. Great book!
