It's JavaScript-based, so that I can cache the HTML for the site. Instead of making a live call to Last.fm, I use some JS as an intermediary, which caches the song for 60 seconds. I extremely don't think that Last.fm is worried about the traffic I'll generate, but it just seems like the decent thing to do.

Huh, well, posting about a feature on my site that disappears when I’m not actively listening to music is not really a great way to share it.
