We’re pretty good at predicting simple physical things, like when you let go of an apple, it falls to the ground. When we look at more complex systems, like weather, we’re less good at it. Predicting general trends among many people works pretty well. Predicting what one person will choose to do in any given situation, is far less accurate. It’s just a guess, really. To your question, I would never have predicted that Flat Earthers would exist in any number–people who genuinely believe the Earth is flat. I was flabbergasted when I finally realized they weren’t trolling.

The result of the UK referendum on proportional voting … it was obvious which choice made more sense, didn’t require much in terms of critical thinking, and the campaign against changing from FTTP was so obviously BS propaganda. And that was how I learned that most people are absolute fucking morons. After that Brexit, Trump, Boris Johnson, Trump again, etc etc, came as little surprise.

That I’m still paying the rent amount from when we moved in nearly ten years ago. Comparable places cost twice as much when we last looked in 2024. We’d actually like to move to a more modern place but at these rates it’s extremely hard to justify a nicer and/or nearer place The landlord is super lazy, they do the bare bare minimum for maintenance and repairs so we just do the small things instead of trying to motivate him to do it or send someone, but also, bless this landlord lol!

There’s manga in my kids’ school library. When I was a kid, I had to ask my dad to drive to this comic book store in the next town over to hopefully find some, or download fan translated scans online. I never thought it would become mainstream and not just for the weird kids like me.

That the Berenstein Bears would be mispelled. That the Fruit of the Loom logo would no longer have a cornucopia. That Trump would be elected…twice. That outright stupidity and a farce for being correct would force the removal of icons such as Aunt Jemima, Uncle Ben, and the Land O’ Lakes girl.
