reading up a bit on the constituency of #clacton, where the binface-farage showdown is expected to happen soon. i know little about the intricacies of british elections, so one thing stands out to me: none of the mp's of clacton since its creation in 2010 have been *from the constituency itself*. carswell was born in uganda and went to school in kenya and surrey, watling was born and raised in greater london, farage must have emerged from the depths of hell itself. none of them have any deeper connection to clacton.
obviously clacton is the seat you go for when you're a hard-right asshole, so i can't quite tell if this is common for british politics or not. given the nature of british electoral politics i could certainly imagine how this would be the case, but i just don't follow it closely enough to know. could someone with more insight enlighten me?
