An excellent piece from Vogue about Meta's continuing attempt to make their "smart glasses" fashionable and cool that makes all of the right points about the ways in which normalizing ubiquitous surveillance creates a world we don't want to live in. https://www.vogue.com/article/do-smart-glasses-have-a-surveillance-problem

@evacide@hachyderm.io for a guy who , for everything else, does a pretty good job keeping his kids out of the public eye and seeming to care a healthy amount about letting them have a normal life, it still seems like it hasnt occurred to him they'll live in the world he creates

@evacide@hachyderm.io Watch the movie "2073" to see a glimpse of the future we're heading toward if we don't kick out shit politicians and re-institute antitrust laws.

    > When asked how Meta is tackling these privacy controversies, a spokesperson for the company told Vogue Business: “We have teams dedicated to limiting and combating misuse, but as with any technology, the onus is ultimately on the individual to not actively exploit it.” that spokesperson should be fired. what a terrible argument. irresponsible and pathetic @evacide@hachyderm.io

@evacide@hachyderm.io There's an Android app everybody should have: It alerts you when someone with this kind of #surveillance tech is in vicinity. Useful in public spaces. I recommend stopping these people and have the police take their name and address, so you can sue them. https://darmstadt.social/@Datterich/116848549924252450 (in German, but all you need is to click on the link) EDIT: typo corrected #nearbyglasses #smartglasses #ai #ki #privacy #freedomrights @vandox@chaos.social
