With regard to #climate, I *think* that we've avoided billions of people killed. I think that we're still headed for hundreds of millions of people killed. "Scientists at Kings College London estimated that 2 degrees centigrade of warming would make one-third of the earth’s landmass effectively uninhabitable for people over sixty." OK. We're going to have at least 2 degrees of warming. Are countries going to allow mass migration from the uninhabitable-for-elderly places? No they are not.

  • Looking at this near-future hellscape, I have nothing but scorn for people who think that we need to preserve our current arrangements. "Oh no people will get killed if we do something" really? What are we looking at if we do nothing? Keep in mind that our current arrangements equal doing nothing.
