It's a great day for Australian Jewry with Steven Lowy and Labor's Josh Burns appearing at the Royal Commission into Antisemitism and "Social Cohesion", bringing prominent coverage from the ABC to The Australian. Both men describe a litany of attacks, Lowy harking back to the brutal murder of his grandfather by Nazis at Auschwitz. Strangely, neither has mentioned Israel's own ongoing holoucaust against Palestinians or their own full-throated support of it. They use the same language, eg it all happened "after October 7", not "Once the genocide got into full swing", highlighting that widespread non-sequitur that "Evil Hamas attacks Jews so suddenly everyone hates Jews". The foreign actions of Iran were folded into general 'antisemitism', as were messages critical of Zionism. Islamophobia naturally received not a mention. Lowy said he now feels safer in Israel than Australia, perhaps an admission that Israel was "defending itself" against not much. #Israel #antisemitism #genocide
