@alexadeswift@lgbtqia.space @mina@berlin.social yep, pupil is still currently used in the UK, although I get the feeling that schools are tending more towards calling them students these days (although that is a gut feeling without evidence, but when trying to encourage kids to go there, especially for fee-paying schools, "student" makes them sound more independent and mature than referring to them as "pupils")

@alexadeswift@lgbtqia.space @mina@berlin.social just checked my old school website, and as I suspected they exclusively use the term "students" in their marketing material. For context, I'm at the stage of my life where I'm beginning to plan my crisis 😂 Pupil was still commonly used when I was at school, but I'm wondering if it is rapidly disappearing with the younger generation. Hope you get someone younger in the UK reply to you, as they may consider "pupil" to be some archaic term from Dickens novels!
