Yesterday someone on a forum was furious about Chat Control passing via the emergency vote procedure (rightly so) and wanted to see how their MEPs voted. Well good news: howtheyvote.eu already exists. Or the more specific fightchatcontrol.eu, that even allows you to email them. But, “Nooo, I’m building a new tracker. It will have votes, corruption, and a button to initiate a protest.” I'm willing to bet it’ll be LLM-built, though they didn’t say that. They don’t even need to nowadays. Gotta love that energy with no humility in it. It has to be *my* solution, *my* app, *my* vainglory and internet points. Never once stops to ask, has anyone already tackled this? Corporate Europe Observatory has been tracking lobbying pressure for years. Did you ask them? And it’d be nice if corruption was a checkbox; but how do you even measure fifty lobby groups pressuring MEPs as a rate going up, and then down again? That’s maybe someone’s entire research career. Couch activism with a “start protest” button was tired in 2010, and it’s no less tired with an LLM app bolted on. I hope it fizzles before people burn through more tokens on another LLM app that gathers dust. And for the sake of that “beginner energy,” that they’ll find somewhere more useful to channel it into.
