When it comes to doughnuts, I always simply go for the plain glazed. If a baker doesn't have a good plain glazed, their poor fundamentals will betray everything else they offer; and if they do have a good plain glazed, all other embellishments will merely distract from it. I understand not everyone can live in such an extreme way, but what can I say? I simply felt called to an ascetic life.
