@goetz@ipv6.social what in ipv6 is easier? SLAAC had potential until you got to the point when you need for some machines known addresses. Performing better, well I think it has smaller headers but bigger addresses, it needs plenty of addresess and the works thing is it needs plenty of multicast addresses more than you have HW filters on some ethernet IPs which needs you to go into promiscuous mode and do SW filtering of all broadcast. @nivex@tenforward.social

    @goetz@ipv6.social @nivex@tenforward.social BTW guys, try to implement DHCPv6 client. You soon realize that there can be plenty of servers each can offer some options and is up to poor client to deal with that. The people who made that spec were so freak of out not being flexible enough that they came up with spec which is impossible to implement completely nor test it.
